New Brentford boss Mark Warburton has a contingency plan in place if Alan Kernaghan and Peter Farrell decide to follow Uwe Rosler to Wigan.

Warburton was appointed manager until at least the end of the season following Rosler's departure to the DW Stadium, but assistant manager Kernaghan and first team coach Farrell remain at Griffin Park.

The Bees' former sporting director admits he does know what the long term future holds for the pair, but has fingers in other pies to ensure Brentford are not left high and dry.

He said: “We have great support staff here. In my opinion, they are the best in this division and in the division above, so it would be good not to have to make any changes.

“It was Uwe who brought Alan and Peter in. Am I expecting them to follow Uwe to Wigan? Not at all, but I don't yet know what the situation is regarding that.

“Uwe has had a hectic time, but I will chat to him over the next few weeks. But I can't leave the club exposed, so I have done my due diligence.”
