SUMMER signings Charlie Austin and Danny Simpson both opened their accounts for QPR in tonight’s 2-0 Capital One Cup win at Exeter City.

Former Burnely striker Austin (pictured), who only joined the Rs last week, took just three minutes to open the scoring after finishing an assist from Junior Hoilett.

Simpson, who joined from Newcastle back in June, doubled Rangers’ lead five minutes after the break after being put in by Andrew Johnson.

Aaron Davies came close to halving the deficit when his effort came back off Brian Murphy’s crossbar with 22 minutes remaining, while Rs sub Shaun Wright-Phillips also hit the woodwork soon after coming on with 17 minutes left.

QPR: Murphy, Simpson, Dunne, Hill, Suk-Young Yun (Wright-Phillips 74), Jenas, Barton, Hoilett, Faurlin (Derry 63), Austin, Zamora (Johnson 46). Subs not used: Green, Onuoha, Ehmer, Henry.
