Dannie Bulman may be AFC Wimbledon’s dressing-room comedian – but training is no laughing matter.

Bulman confirmed his status as in-house prankster-in-chief in an article in the Wombles’ match programme before Saturday’s game with York.

On the field he claimed an assist and was one of the driving forces behind a second half turnaround which saw Wimbledon claim the points from a 2-1 win.

The veteran midfielder’s continued defiance of his 37-year-old legs is no surprise given he is also the hardest working member of his squad away from match-day.

“Dannie Bulman was immense again today, the guy is a phenomenon,” said Neal Ardley.

Impressed with professionalism: Neal Ardley

“When you read his programme notes he reckons he has made a career out of having a laugh and a joke away from the training pitch, but when he is in there he is the best trainer.

“You watch him do the warm-ups, he does them at the best intensity, he trains like his life depends on it and then he rests and lives his life right when he isn’t training.

“So it is no surprise and I’m delighted with his performances at the moment.”

Bulman’s next on-field challenge comes in Good Friday’s long trip to Hartlepool.
