Oscar was the hat-trick hero as Chelsea crushed MK Dons in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilian set the Blues on the way to a 5-1 triumph over the Championship strugglers at Stadium MK.

Eden Hazard also got on the scoresheet as he banged in his first goal of the season from the penalty spot after a lengthy drought.

Bertrand Traore completed the job within minutes of coming off the bench as he opened his account for the champions to send them through to round five.

Chelsea remain unbeaten under Guus Hiddink and could go all the way to the final based on this stylish showing in Buckinghamshire.

There will be tougher challenges ahead though as Milton Keynes looked every inch the relegation candidates their league position shows.

Here’s five things we learned from Stadium MK...

Chelsea are taking the FA Cup seriously

One of the first things Hiddink made clear after returning to Chelsea as manager was that the FA Cup is of huge value to him.

It holds a special place in the Dutchman’s heart after he lifted football’s oldest cup competition in 2009 during his first spell with the club as he bowed out in glory at Wembley.

He would dearly love to repeat that moment in May and spoke passionately about how the FA Cup is still considered a major trophy all around the world.

Given the rise of the Champions League and La Liga’s continued growth in popularity in Britain, the famous old trinket has lost its sense of magic with some.

But not Hiddink and his team selection in Milton Keynes, making minimal changes but again giving a chance to Ruben Loftus-Cheek, reflects his affection for the trophy.

Chelsea were shocked by Bradford at this stage of the competition last year by Bradford and they weren’t about to let that happen again.

Oscar season

It’s that time of the year folks, Oscar season, but we’re not talking Hollywood here.

The Samba star was Chelsea’s leading light in Buckinghamshire and netted a first-half hat-trick at Stadium MK to make him the first Blues star to take home the match ball since Diego Costa in September 2014.

Oscar loves the FA Cup and has scored in three of his four FA Cup seasons for Chelsea.

He could easily have had more against a team who were embarrassingly poor at the back at times.

The gulf in class between these two sides was staggering at times and the defending from the home team comical in large parts.

Eden Hazard drops a hint

Hazard’s name appeared in the Chelsea line-up for the first time since January 3rd and marked his return with a goal.

It was his first of the season for the Blues as he netted a second-half penalty to end a run of 30 games without a goal.

He had hit the post after 26 minutes and it appeared it could be one of those days for the Belgian before he eventually broke his duck.

And there was a telling sign when he did hit the net as Hazard, clearly relieved to get that particular monkey off his back, as he kissed the badge.

With rumours swirling that Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid will lodge a huge bid for the forward in the summer and Hazard’s body language in Jose Mourinho’s final days had not been good.

But that celebration hinted he’s enjoying life much more in west London under Hiddink.

Bertrand Traore off the mark

The Burkina Faso international scored within five minutes of coming off the bench to give the Chelsea coaching staff a timely reminder of his abilities.

On the eve of transfer deadline day, Traore’s goal could be the difference between the attacker sticking around of being loaned out.

Roman Abramovich dropped into Cobham to make a check on the progress of the club’s young guns and both the Russian and Hiddink were impressed with his performance in a friendly with QPR.

His goalscoring exploits come just days after it emerged Chelsea are facing a FIFA probe over his transfer. The Blues deny any wrongdoing.

Traore could well have had a second late on too, however he dragged his effort wide and had to settle with the single goal to his name.

Chelsea have their swagger back

MK Dons players look dejected

This was the Chelsea of last season. This was the performance of a side who are full of confidence and are unbeaten under Hiddink.

Abramovich’s backing of Mourinho was admirable given the track record the Blues have had of dispensing with managers so freely under his rule.

The owner, usually so ruthless, showed a softer side with his handling of the Mourinho situation before eventually deciding enough was enough.

It looks like a good decision now though and John Obi Mikel’s comments in the lead up to this match revealed the extent to which his relationship with the players had broken down.

Chelsea looked like they were enjoying their football again in Milton Keynes and the scoreline could easily have reached double figures.

The opposition were poor today but the standard of play and the will to keep pouring forward in search of more goals will be so pleasing for Blues fans.
