QPR face a difficult test as they travel to the north-east to take on recently-relegated Middlesbrough.

The Hoops are looking to make it three games without a defeat, following last weekend's victory over Ipswich Town and Tuesday's draw with London rivals Millwall.

As for the Boro, Garry Monk's side are slowly finding their feet in the Championship after a disappointing campaign in the top-flight, with the former-Leeds United boss being tasked with an immediate return to the Premier League.

We'll be bringing build-up, updates, opinions and analysis from the Riverside Stadium, so sit back and relax while we do the rest.

Stoppage time

QPR have six minutes to find an equaliser!

  • Share

Wszolek hits the post!

A lapse in concentration gives the ball to Wszolek who fires a vicious shot from the right at goal which cannons off the post.

  • Share

Chance Boro

Cyrus Christie forces a great save from Smithies as he cuts in from the right and fires a left-foot effort at goal.

  • Share

Six minutes of normal time left

Middlesbrough are firmly in control now, holding onto possession and not allowing the Hoops to have a sniff.

  • Share

Idrissa Sylla coming on

The Hoops seem to have lost control of this as Boro are running riot on the attack.

Idrissa Sylla looks like he’s coming on so QPR will be hoping that if they loft the ball into him he could cause some issues for the home defence.

Nearly another!

The woodwork denies Ashley Fletcher who nearly makes it four.

GOAL - Boro 3 QPR 2 (Assombalonga)

Great wing play from Marvin Johnson as he reaches the byline before crossing in for Assombalonga to head home.

There's goals in this one yet!

This match is opening up in this second half; real end to end stuff.

I certainly think there’s more goal in it yet!

GOAL! Boro 2 QPR 2 (Ashley Fletcher)

An excellent header from Ashley Fletcher brings the Boro back into it. Game on!

  • Share

GOAL! Boro 1 QPR 2 (Jamie Mackie)

A moment to forget for Darren Randolph. He cames out to clear the ball and the sheer work-rate of Mackie dispossesses the keeper, leaving Mackie with the task of rolling it home.

Double sub

Wszolek and Mackie replaces Smith and Lua Lua

Half time analysis

The first half has gone exactly as Ian Holloway will have thought.

Wheeler did excellently to grasp his early goal, and the Hoops have done everything to disrupt the first half and stop Middlesbrough garnering momentum.

Unfortunately, the quality of Boro’s attacking play has been excellent in parts.

Getting the equaliser will have given them a real boost going into the break, and Ollie’s boys need to do everything they can to stop them moving up through the gears.

GOAL! Boro 1 QPR 1 (Lewis Baker)

A great team move. Marvin Johnson broke with pace and slipped a sublime ball through to Baker who stroked it home at the near post.

  • Share

Strategic play from QPR

The Hoops doing an excellent job of controlling the game. Long, strategic breaks in play being used to stop Boro from getting on the ball.

  • Share

A game-plan well-executed so far?

There’s a slight sense of frustration in the Riverside as a series of sloppy passes breaks up the momentum in their play.

Ian Holloway’s game-plan looks like it’s going exactly as he’d wish.

Very close to an equaliser

A great ball from Stuart Downing over the top finds Marvin Johnson who slides his effort just wide.

  • Share

QPR get away with one there...

The Hoops are lucky to get away with that one. A ball goes over the top for Assombalonga to run onto, and Alex Baptiste reaches out an arm and knocks it away. No penalty.

  • Share

Chance QPR

Excellent play by Lua Lua frees him up to swing in the cross which David Wheeler heads wide.

  • Share

Chance Boro

A great break from Boro. Lewis Baker picked up the ball and ran at the heart of the QPR defence, laid it off to Stuart Downing who hit a tame shot at Alex Smithies.

  • Share

Great defending

Fabio and Cyrus Christie causing allsorts of problems down the flank, but the Hoops looking solid

  • Share

The home side coming into this...

Boro starting to come into this now. Play from Fabio and Marvin Johnson down the left leads to a corner which is cleared with ease.

  • Share

A great start

Luke Freeman is looking lively here. He’s doing what he does best, only he has more space than usual to turn and run at the defence.

An excellent start from the Hoops.

GOAL - Boro 0 QPR 1 (David Wheeler)

QPR take an early lead! The ball is played in and debutant David Wheeler puts it away!

10 minutes to kick off

It’ll be interesting to see how a makeshift QPR defence and midfield copes with the quality at Middlesbrough’s disposal.

They must get off to a good start or it could be a long afternoon...
