Sporting director Frank McParland could follow manager Mark Warburton out of Brentford – or even find the exit door sooner.

The former Liverpool academy boss, who has been at Griffin Park for just over a year, could be outed as part of a wider reshuffle of the power structure at the club.

Brentford's future direction came under question yesterday when an article appeared in the national press stating Warburton would be let go at the end of the season.

The club released a statement which revealed little, while Warburton, who is on a 12-month rolling contract, vowed after yesterday's defeat to Watford to see his job through.

Puzzled: Warburton during last night's defeat to Watford

However, GetWestLondon now understands that it appears there is no way back for either Warburton or McParland as owner Matthew Benham restructures his club.

At the heart of the matter, it would seem, is where the power lies over the player decision process. While Warburton currently has a veto over new signings, Benham appears to favour an all-powerful sporting director, but does not see McParland as being that man.

It has become apparent that Benham and Warburton disagree over the way forward and the manager will leave at the end of the season, if not before.

It would also appear that there is some truth in fresh revelations that Benham is keen to introduce a sleep coach and a free-kick coach the club.
