Maxime Colin is still struggling to recover from the groin injury he picked up after Brentford’s 3-1 loss against Derby in February.

The Frenchman was in the squad for Saturday’s 1-0 loss against Blackburn and said he was fit to play, but admitted to still feeling some pain in his groin.

The 24-year-old’s time at Brentford has so far been plagued with injuries after picking up a knee injury in training back in September that ruled him out until December.

But Colin believes the international break will give him the chance to rest and be ready for the remainder of the season.

He said: “I was fit for today but the boss made his choice - I still have a little pain to my groin but it isn't easy to fix it.

“I hope it will be good for the end of the season cause I want to help the team to win games so I hope it will be good for the end.

“We have 15 days to prepare so it's better for me to rest and be ready for the next game.”
