Marcus Bettinelli admits Fulham have a mountain to climb to clinch a top-six spot.

The Cottagers are now a massive 15 points off the play-off places following Saturday's 1-1 draw against Birmingham City.

Kit Symons says his side's chances of reaching the end-of-season lottery are slim, and keeper Bettinelli has echoed his manager's thoughts.

He said: “It’s going to be difficult to make the play-offs now. If you look at where we were when Kit took over, we’ve done a tremendous job to get out of that because at one point we were bottom of the table.

“It’s not impossible. We’ve got to keep pushing and get as high as we can. It would be an unbelievable story if we were to do it.”

Bettinelli bounced back from his blunder against Sunderland with a string of important saves against the Blues.

However, he admits he could've done better to try and keep out David Cotteril's free-kick that earned the visitors a point.

He added: “Based on where the free-kick was, most goalkeepers will look at themselves and say they could’ve done better. I was expecting it to come towards the goal but you will have to ask him if he meant it."
