If Chelsea's Jose Mourinho was furious last week, he will have been incensed as his charges suffered a heavy defeat to their closest title challengers.

The visitors suffered a desperately slow start to the match which saw Sergio Aguero spurn four chances before finally hitting the target before half-time.

And with strikes from Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho in the second half sealing an emphatic win for the hosts, Chelsea fans were left wondering what went wrong.

But Mourinho was left in no uncertain terms as to the cause of the Blues' woes, believing a lack of finishing cost his side dearly.

"In the first half the best team was winning. In the second half, the best team was Chelsea. We didn't score.

"If the 1-0 result after the second half would be an unfair result, imagine 2-0 or 3-0. The second goal is completely out of context, but it is our mistake.

"We were punished by our mistakes in the second half and their goal - we couldn't capitalise on the chances we made."
