Dimitar Berbatov is ‘fully committed’ to all Fulham games up to January.

After that, boss Rene Meulensteen was reluctant to comment about his mercurial striker.

This was a good day for the Bulgarian, whose agent reckons the striker wants away from Craven Cottage.

If that happens, then in the form that helped beat Aston Villa 2-0 and a first win in seven attempts – he’ll be a catch for somebody.

Berbatov put away his eighth successful Premier League penalty with panache – he’s yet to miss from the spot, and set up the first goal for Steve Sidwell to bring Fulham’s wretched run to a close.

But although his new manager reckoned he had ‘had a word with Berbatov’ in the last couple of days, his and other futures are a no-go area.

“The word is focus, and when you do that you get a result like this.

“I wouldn’t, can’t, and don’t want to answer that (about Berbatov and others’ futures).

“That’s my business to discuss that with the people to whom it’s relevant,” added Meulensteen in a manner reminiscent of the manager he served under at Manchester United for six years.

That said, the winning mentality of Sir Alex Ferguson appears to have had an immediate impact in SW6.

“We were even better going forward with the quality we produced than last Wednesday (against Spurs),” said Meulensteen.

“Players should be delighted with their performance.”

Even so, the second Dutchman in a row to occupy the dugout reckons he also copped a bit of Fergie-like luck with penalty decisions that saw his team home.

A challenge by Aaron Hughes on Gaby Agbonlahor nine minutes from time went unpunished.

Fulham, in contrast, were handed a 12-yarder when Alex Kacaniklic went down after a push from Leandro Bacuna in the first half.

“One, it’s about decisions and number two it’s about opinions. We got given one, and took it,” said Meulensteen.

“If we had a similar incident like Aston Villa’s – we would have been disappointed if we didn’t get it.”

Even so, this was a much improved Fulham. It would rather help the cause if Berbatov stuck around a bit longer.
