QPR travel to Germany for two fixtures in two days as they begin the home straight in their preparations for the start of the Sky Bet Championship season.

Today's opponents are Lokomotive Leipzig, who are sure to provide a tough test for the Hoops in what is currently their penultimate pre-season fixture.

It's expected that Ian Holloway will look to give all 26 members of his travelling squad a significant amount of playing time over the two games, allowing each player to stake his claim for a place in Ollie's first team plans.

However these plans may have changed following yesterday's postponed fixture against Union Berlin

After reforming in 2003, Lokomotive Leipzig have worked their way up from the eleventh tier of German football to the fourth in just 14 years, and will no doubt provide a stern challenge for Ollie's men.

Reporter Phil Spencer will be on hand to provide live updates from the clash in Leipzig, which kicks off at 1pm BST.

How key is experience?

It was an ideal match to give the youngsters a chance, and to be honest, they didn’t do a lot wrong.

However what they are missing is match experience, something which is crucial if the team are going to be able to pick up points in the Championship.

Potential is great, but the team needs the calm and intelligence to be able to handle opponents who are a lot more wily that Lokomotive Leipzig.

Approaching half-time. QPR won’t be pleased with this first half, and you’d imagine Ollie will them as much at the break.

The Hoops look nervous defensively at times. Understandable given the average age but something they will need to address if they are to press on in the league.

A quick word to praise the travelling fans...

It’s worth noting the excellent conduct of the QPR fans who traveled to Germany this weekend for the two fixtures against Union Berlin and Lokomotive Leipzig.

Although out of everybody’s control, the postponement of yesterday’s game was a big disappointment for those who have paid large sums to follow their team, but the way they responded to the disappointment, by all accounts, has been magnificent.

It takes real commitment to follow the club both home and away, and particularly around Europe, and here’s hoping the the team can put in a positive display for those in attendance this afternoon.
