Daniel Sturridge won't be back to haunt his old club Chelsea as he looks set to miss out for Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow.

The 25-year-old hasn't played for the Reds since August after suffering a thigh strain.

He looked set to return a few weeks ago, however his return to action was hampered after suffering a calf injury three weeks ago and is yet to return to full training.

Sturridge trained away from the main group yesterday at Melwood and is unlikely to feature against the Blues .

Roy Hodgson has left the frontman out of the England squad for their upcoming fixtures and is expected to return to action away to Crystal Palace on November 23.

He arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2012 from Manchester City and was in impressive form during his first season scoring 11 goals in 30 league appearances despite mainly being deployed on the wing.

In his second season for Chelsea he saw his chances limited making just seven appearances before moving to Liverpool in January 2013.

Sturridge has flourished since moving to Liverpool having scored 36 goals in 52 appearances playing as a striker.

Another ex-Chelsea player, Fabio Borini produced an impressive performance against Real Madrid in midweek and could start up front ahead of the out of form Mario Balotelli.
