Lee Carsley has confirmed that Brentford's 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest will be his final game in charge.

The Bees took the lead through Sergi Canos' tap-in after a ball across from Harlee Dean just after the hour mark.

The defender was then sent off for a collision with Jonathan Williams and Henri Lansbury equalised from the resulting free kick.

But, with six minutes of stoppage time held up by the fourth official, Philipp Hofmann turned the ball home after a goalmouth scramble to give Carsley a perfect send-off, although the Bees boss will remain with the club.

He said: “I think it is an easier position now after this win for a manager to come in, that might well be my last game today.

“I will be staying on to help with the transition before returning to my old role, we have player coming back from injury and are in a strong position.”

Banned: Harlee Dean

The new Brentford head coach, believed to be Pep Clotet, will have to make do without Dean after his rush of blood with Jonathan Williams.

He added: “It's the modern game, you cannot raise your arms, you cannot give the ref an opportunity to have to make a decision and Harlee did that.

“Harlee was not doing himself justice at the start of the season but is an important leader for us and was having a good game until the incident.

“I think the referee handled the game really well and the way the fourth official spoke to me during the game was good.”
