Gateshead 1-2 Barnet

JAKE Hyde struck a late winner as Barnet saw off Gateshead.

The Bees left it late in the north east but Hyde found the net two minutes from time to steal the points after Keanu Marsh-Brown had cancelled out Colin Larkin's opener.

Edgar Davids made just one change to the side that were held by Tamworth in midweek as Anthony Acheampong came in for Jack Saville.

Hyde and Mark Byrne both forced early saves from Gateshead  goalkeeper Adam Bartlett but they failed to make their early pressure count.

And Gateshead punished the visitors for their sloppy finishing on the half-hour mark as Larkin tapped home from close range to break the deadlock.

The lead lasted just five minutes though as Marsh-Brown slotted home the equaliser as the team's headed in at the break on level terms at the International Stadium.

Hyde, who looked lively up top for Davids' team, thought he had put the Bees in front shortly after the restart but his headed goal was chalked off due to offside.

But the striker was not to be denied and followed up his opening-day double by netting the winner two minutes from time to send the travelling fans into raptures.
