Andreas Bjelland has been backed to shine for Brentford by team-mate Lasse Vibe.

The Dane suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury on debut and will be returning to pre-season early in a bid to build up fitness.

And Vibe, his team-mate for both club and country, believes that Bjelland can return and find his best form.

Vibe told Bold.dk: “Andreas has trained with us for a long time, and he looked strong.

It's always interesting how a player coming back after a serious injury, but I think are are clearly able to see the good things from Andreas.

Impressed: Lasse Vibe

“There have been days when I have thought; He's damn back. But of course he should just find themselves in the starting XI.

“I very much hope it holds for him, he can become an important player in terms of stabilising our defence.

Bjelland will be battling Harlee Dean, Yoann Barbet and Jack O'Connell for a spot in the starting XI and Vibe has been impressed with the trio.

He added: “Our defence play fine football, and we want to play it out from the back. And we also, since we have no tall striker he can help as I don't win aerial battles against big defenders.

“In this way, think I Andreas fits well. He may be important for our defensive and offensive play.”
