Konstantin Kerschbaumer has a chance to show what he can do in the Brentford side after Alan Judge’s cruel injury at Ipswich.

The 27-year-old suffered a broken leg after a horror challenge from Luke Hyam just two minutes into the Bees’ 3-1 victory at Portman Road.

His replacement, Austrian youth international Kerschbaumer, did his chances the world of good in Suffolk, with his performance impressing midfielder Alan McCormack, who was naturally upset by Judge’s injury.

“We all feel for Judgey. Football can be a cruel game. We wish him all the best. Hopefully we’ll see him on the pitch soon,” McCormack said.

“Kersch was very good when he came on. His work rate was quality.

“He got in the box and had a few chances where he should have scored. He’s our best finisher in training and he never misses so to see him miss a couple was surprising.

"He snapped at his chances. He’ll take confidence knowing he’ll get chances. He came and we weren’t doing so well so it was difficult for him.

“He was taken out of the team and he had time to view the game and the intensity, passion, physicality and technical side of it. He’s come to grips with that and that’s great to see.”
