Keeping the faith: Nico Yennaris

Nico Yennaris was always confident Brentford's long wait for a league win would soon come to an end if they stuck to their principles.

The Bees finally bagged their maiden victory of the season at Bolton yesterday after drawing blanks in their first eight Championship outings.

All through that barren run, Dean Smith's men have been praised for their brand of football, even though it was not producing the points.

“I've said if we kept on performing results will come,” said Yennaris. “Thankfully it's come today, and we can build from this now and kick on this season.

“Sometimes we've been unlucky. I think we were just trying to grind out that one win, and now we've got it will give the lads a boost and we can kick on now.

“You can't be disappointed with the way we played. There was never that doubt of we can't win or we're never going to win because the performances were good.

“We rolled over Aston Villa and were unfortunate not to get a win. We rolled over Sheffield Wednesday and they score a sloppy and then a soft goal from our standards.

“There was never any doubt a win was coming. Our performances have been good. We'd sit on the coach and wonder why we hadn't won that.

“That was the outlook on it. We just said we'll go again and eventually it'll come off, as you can't create the chances we have without winning, and now we've got the three points.”
