He's only been at Brentford FC a week - but on-loan striker Jordan Rhodes wants to stay even longer.

The Ipswich Town youngster had a spell at Rochdale earlier this season, and scored in the 3-0 demolition of Aldershot on his home debut on Tuesday night after joining on a one-month deal last week.

Bees boss Andy Scott is short of options up front with Nathan Elder having two more games to sit out before he completes his four-match ban.

And Rhodes, who's well down the Portman Road pecking order, wants follow team-mate Dean Bowditch in being a hit at Griffin Park.

He said: "I haven't had much of a sniff at Ipswich this year, and that's the reason why I'm at Brentford. I want to improve, get stronger, score goals and play well.

"I could stay longer - it beats playing reserve-team football. You're not playing in front of big crowds on nights during the week. Playing in front of fans and for something that matters is something else completely."

Rhodes revealed he spoke to Bowditch and Sammy Moore, who was on loan at Brentford last season, before he agreed to come to the club.

He added: "There's a good bunch of lads here. I spoke to Dean Bowditch and Sammy Moore before I came, and they only had good things to say about the club."
