MARTIN Jol must decide whether to gamble on Adel Taarabt's fitness ahead of tomorrow's trip to Sunderland.
The mercurial Moroccan is short of match-fitness having missed a large chunk of pre-season training after being frozen out at QPR before his loan switch to Fulham.
Taarabt appeared as a second-half substitute in last week's friendly defeat to Parma.
And boss Jol is toying with the idea of throwing the 24-year-old in from the off at the Stadium of Light.
“He didn't play for months and we had to start somewhere,” said the Dutchman.
“Hopefully he's ready. It's a decision on whether he starts or comes on later.
“He's certainly a player a club like us could do with in the squad. He gives us that extra thing.
“Hopefully he can improve and he'll become a player who scores eight, nine or 10 goals and produces more assist. I need goals and creativity up front.”
