PHILIPPE Senderos is in contention to start for Fulham against West Brom this afternoon - less than a fortnight after he was told he could leave Craven Cottage.

Boss Martin Jol was willing to let the Swiss centre-back quit the club before the transfer window closed, but the former Arsenal defender stayed in SW6 and could start against the Baggies.

With Aaron Hughes missing with a thigh problem, Jol must choose between Senderos and summer signing Fernando Amorebieta , who is not 100 per cent fit, to partner skipper Brede Hangeland.

"Fernando was injured, then he went on international duty when he was on the fringe of being fit," said the Dutch manager.

"He was on the bench against Chile but played in their last match, so he came back fit.

"If he will start it will be the first time, so it's not easy.

"Philippe is in the squad and there's a big chance he will start."

Senderos has threatened to quit the club in January if he fails to nail down a regular spot.

But Jol added: "Everybody wants games and needs games because they want to go to the World Cup.

"That's not our problem. My problem is to win games."
