Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was shocked by QPR’s second-half collapse at MK Dons and told his players their performance is not what the club stands for.

The Hoops looked to be controlling the match until the half-time interval when the R’s players took their eye off the ball and allowed the strugglers to capitalise.

Dean Lewington and Ben Reeves boosted Karl Robinson’s survival hopes with second-half strikes and boss Hasselbaink was scatching in his assessment of the performance.

He told BBC London: “The second half was not what we stand for. You have to earn the right to play and you have to earn the right to have the ball. We didn’t earn it.

“Whatever I say in the dressing room stays in the dressing room but we have to be honest and that was not what we stand for.

“It’s not how we do things. Normally we come out stronger in the second half but today we didn’t.”

QPR's defeat to MK Dons in pictures:

QPR saw a couple of penalty appeals waved away before referee Keith Stroud award MK Dons two spot kicks in the closing stages.

Reeves netted the second of those to seal victory for the relegation-threatened Buckinghamshire side and Hasselbaink didn’t agree with Stroud’s decision making.

He added: ”Have a look at them.

“For the first one, my left back is saying that he got the ball. The player that went down said he wasn’t touched but he gave it.

“The second one, Karl Henry put his body in front of the player and the player kicked him. I’ve never seen a penalty given like that before.”

QPR entertain Derby County at Loftus Road on Tuesday evening as they look to bounce back from the Dons defeat.
