QPR need to work on offloading some of their summer signings in January, according to former boss Neil Warnock.
Rangers have made sweeping changes in every summer but their transfer policy earlier this year left a lot to be desired and Chris Ramsey paid the price with his job with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink taking over.
The Rs signed Ben Gladwin, Massimo Luongo, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Jamie Mackie, Joseph N'Guessan, Sebastian Polter, Tjarron Chery, James Perch, Oscar Gobern, Grant Hall, Alex Smithies and Daniel Tozser in the off-season, while Paul Konchesky, Gabriele Angella joined on loan.
However, at Reading, only Hall, Konchesky and Perch started, while Chery, Luongo, Angella, Tozser and Smithies were on the bench. Mackie is currently on the treatment table and N'Guessan was signed as one for the future.
And Warnock has doubts those fit and available but not in his squad can compete at Championship level.
He told GetWestLondon : “I think Jimmy (Floyd Hasselbaink) will tweak the squad in January with one or two new players with more than that leaving the club.
“I don't think many of the summer signings were at Reading. I've gone with a group of players I think can do well in the Championship and moulded that into a very good team.”
Warnock leaves QPR after turning their fortunes around and he believes Rangers can still reach and win the play-offs.
He said: “I've absolutely loved it. I love the passion and the oohs and ahs. I said to the players before Leeds that this team can get in the play-offs and win them.
“They have to believe in themselves. It's a great job for Jimmy to take on. I bet he can't believe his luck taking over this group of players. It's a special club.”
The popular manager has been delighted at the way his squad have progressed over the past few weeks.
He said: “I've enjoyed the banter on the training ground and giving one or two players the confidence to come and play like Junior.
“I've enjoyed looking at Junior blossom and Matty Phillips. I think Grant Hall has learnt from me. Sandro and Ale Faurlin are as good as anyone in the league. I've sorted out the defence and I know we can score goals.”
As for Warnock's future, he said: “I think I can become the Red Adair of football going in (and turning a club around) for three months, but not before Christmas.”
