ROBERTO Di Matteo has told both Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole that he wants them to remain at Stamford Bridge and hopes Lampard will see out his career at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard has been linked with the same sort of lucrative move to China that persuaded Didier Drogba to depart in the summer, while Carlo Ancelotti is keen on taking Cole to Paris St Germain,

Di Matteo says he is not aware of any official dialogue with other clubs about the two players but has made a point of telling them both he wants to keep them.

“The players [Lampard and Cole] know that I would like them to stay,” said the Chelsea boss.

“From my point of view they are fantastic players. They've always performed at a very high level for us. I've told them that and I hope they will stay.”

“There have not been talks, as far as I'm aware, but there's always going to be speculation about Frank, because he's a fantastic player. There were rumours about the MLS as well and I don't think that's going to stop.

“I hope there's going to be a new contract, but that's up to the player and the club to agree a new arrangement. I'm not aware of how discussions are going.

“I think if there's a willingness from both sides, I think he will remain for us. I think he's been a fantastic player for us for more than a decade and I think it would be nice for him to finish his career here.”
