Former QPR manager and Brentford player Ian Holloway has tipped the Bees to be relegated from the Championship this season.

Dean Smith's side finished ninth in the league last season after a superb finish to the season.

And Holloway, who in his last managerial role took Millwall to the verge of relegation in the 2014/15 season before he was sacked, believes the west London side have gone backwards.

Tipping the Bees to finish 22 and in the final relegation place, the Sky Sports pundit said: “Brentford are regressing. Mark Warburton got them punching above their weight.

“They still haven't replaced Andre Gray and Alan Judge will be missing for the start of the season. They could be in trouble.”

Holloway has predicted a better season for Fulham than the previous two by finishing in 17 place in the Championship.

He commented: “Fulham's problem is that they've got a lot of overpaid experience and too many youth players.

“They could have another tough season, especially without the goals of Moussa Dembele and potentially Ross McCormack.”

As for Holloway's former club, QPR, he believes that, while they don't have enough to challenge at the top of the table, they will have a comfortable 11 placed finish.

He said: “I'm not entirely sure about the QPR squad yet. Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink is the right man for the job but they haven't replaced Charlie Austin.

“It's OK to play in a certain style but you need to have a striker like Jimmy was to bang in the goals.”

Unsurprisingly, Holloway has gone with title favourites Newcastle United to win the league while Brighton & Hove Albion join them in the top flight.

He has tipped Norwich, Derby, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds to contest the play-offs while the Bees, Huddersfield and Rotherham take the drop.
