Ian Holloway praised Jack Robinson as QPR beat Birmingham 2-1 to get their first away win of the season - with Robinson bagging his first ever senior goals.

He gave the Rs the lead with a header in the first half before the hosts pegged them back, but his fine long range effort in the second half ensured all three points.

QPR had to weather the storm somewhat after Birmingham equalised, and the boss praised the way his side "ripped the ascendancy" from them after they pulled level.

He said: "You end up looking down there at the run we've been on and the decisions we've had to take and what that's lead to, and the letters I've received saying 'sorry about that, you should've had a penalty at Barnsley, at Bolton, at Villa and the more it goes the more you end up looking for something from the ref.

"You have to show character when you come here and believe that what you've been doing is okay and hope you get what you've deserved and I felt we did that.

"The first goal was vital, as a crowd you could feel how it is and it's great when they're with you and it's bad when they're not, and we needed that.

"What I was pleased with when we let one in and the crowd started we needed to come through that instead of getting wobbly and we did.

"Robinson was fantastic, thats 115 odd games and he's not scored before, I've just asked the doping people to test him, something has to be going on.

"All joking apart, he was magnificent and we've had so many injuries, so many defensive injuries that it's so difficult, and I managed to pick the shape that suited us best with the three at the back.

"I think it's an immense result for us and we really needed it and I'm pleased with the way it went - they equalised and gained the ascendancy and we ripped it from them, which was important to us."
