Brentford new boy Luke Daniels has warned current number one goalkeeper Dan Bentley that he is after his job.

The Bees announced the signing the Scunthorpe stopper on Wednesday and he becomes the second new face at Griffin Park this summer after Henrik Dalsgaard.

The Bolton-born stopper is widely expected to be a back-up to Bentley but he warned his former Southend team-mate that he shouldn't expect to have things all his own way.

“I want to play: I am not coming here to sit on the bench,” Daniels told Brentford's official website. “I am a bad loser and I don’t like conceding goals. That is one thing that I can guarantee: I will always do my best to keep the ball out of the net.

“I know Daniel Bentley from when we were at Southend United together. I know him well and I know that he is a very good goalkeeper but I am coming to take his job hopefully.

“We are both going to be pushing which will be good for the club. The more competition that you have for places then the better.

“If someone is playing in a team in front of me then they must be playing very well and that is only going to help Brentford.”
