QPR’S boss insists Jamie Mackie’s first return to the ground where he badly broke a leg won’t affect the forward on Saturday – even if it is in the back of his mind.

The Rangers player suffered a double break of the right leg in the FA Cup tie at Ewood Park just over a year ago – a sickening injury that kept him sidelined until August.

Team-mates decried the comments from El-Hadji Diouf involved in the leg-breaking tackle, and then manager Neil Warnock called the Senegalese striker a ‘sewer rat’ for his unsavoury comments.

But new man Mark Hughes reckons he doesn’t need a heart to heart with Mackie (pic) over any wavering mentality before the vital relegation game.

He said: “I would imagine there would be a moment when Jamie runs past the exact spot – he’ll remember it.

“But I think players recover physically and mentally pretty quickly. It’s a bit like a jockey getting back on a horse.”

But Sparky is still incensed over the three-match ban for Djibril Cissé against Wolves – sent off for his reaction to a bad tackle last Saturday as Cissé’s own injury history was the flame on the fuse that saw him see red.

In fact, the Rangers manager reckons Gareth Bale was a lucky player when the Spurs international escaped with only a yellow for giving an almighty shove in the chest to Liverpool’s Daniel Agger in Wednesday’s 0-0 draw.

“I’m somewhat aggrieved by the level of punishment he (Cissé) got,” said Hughes.

“We all know you can’t raise your hands. But I seem to remember Tottenham versus Liverpool when there was a lot more so-called violent conduct than Djibril’s – and the player (Bale) just got a booking for simulation.”
