A new look Hounslow Wanderers comprising of only five players from the squad relegated from the Premier Division last season started life back in Division One (West) on Saturday.

Saj Panesar's side took on London Commercial League champions New Hanford in their curtain-raiser, with plenty of debuts within the Purple Haze ranks.

The match was evenly contested, with a fully committed display from Hounslow, but the only goal came in the 43rd minute when Hanford's Ross Ahir latched onto an error and slotted home.

Panesar said: “I'm pleased with the display, the boys are still getting to know each other and gave a championship winning team a real fight for the points, and we can only get better.

“The league wanted us to remain in the Premier Division, but we decided that we needed to wipe the slate clean, release all our previous players and rebuild with a young, focused and hungry team with a plan for longer term success.”

In the same division, goals from Ali Noshabadi, Goran Tavberidze and Loren Young saw Brentham beat beat Bedfont Sports Reserves , for whom Norman Bukowski, 3-1, while Fulham's Pearscroft United won 2-1 at Imperial College Old Boys, with goals from Shaun Powell and Oliver Skeete. But Hillingdon Abbots played out a 1-1 draw with Wembley Park , while Kodak (Harrow) and Pitshanger Dynamo played out a goalless draw.
