Lee Higgs headed the only goal of the game to get Hanworth Villa's promotion bid back on track on Saturday.

Higgs netted the winner after 15 minutes at South Park to take Villa up to second in Combined Counties Division One.

Having caught up on their games in hand, Villa are now in a promotion place and only trail leaders Mole Valley SCR by five points.

However, last season's title rivals Staines Lammas are just two points behind them and Worcester Park five points.

And the challenges or Knaphill, Dorking and Sheerwater cannot be dismissed either as they have three, four and three games in hand respectively.

Villa host one of their promotion rivals on Saturday when they take on Knaphill, who they have beaten once and lost to once this season, at Rectory Meadow.

Villa were also due to visit Wealdstone reserves in the Middlesex County Cup third round last night.

Also in Division One, Feltham's home game with Sheerwater was called off on Saturday due to a frozen pitch.

But CB Hounslow United's game at Farnham Town bit the dust for an altogether stranger reason - there were no showers available due to a broken boiler.

CB sit 10th in Division One and take on the team immediately below them, Westfield, at Osterley Sports Club on Saturday, kicking off at 2pm.

Feltham, who are 14th, host Farleigh Rovers, who are just one position above them, at Bedfont FC.
