QPR defender Clint Hill reckons the Championship title is wide open – but he and the others with vast experience of the second tier can steer Rs through difficult waters.

Hill and Shaun Derry alone have played more than a collective 600 games in seven seasons for a variety of Championship clubs, and the Liverpool-born player is taking nothing for granted.

Hill said: “There are 10 to 12 teams that can probably go up – and it could be just as tight at the bottom.

“Last season it needed 55 points to stay up, which is a heck of a lot.

“There’s a lot of lads here that have played a lot of Championship football and we can pass on our advice to the rest to make sure we have a good season.”
