Brentford FC skipper Matt Heywood is set to leave the club after telling manager Andy Scott he's off.

The out-of-contract former Swindon and Bristol City centre-back is being courted by at least two of the Bees' League two rivals.

Scott did not take up his option of withdrawing the offer Brentford made when he met Heywood for make-or-break talks last week.

The Bees' manager, who will now chase a replacement centre-back, said: "A couple of League Two clubs were in for Matt.

"We had the right to withdraw the offer as of last Tuesday, but we kept it open. However, it makes little difference as it's looking like he will go elsewhere."
