Charlie Moone’s future at Hampton & Richmond Borough is far from secure.
The Beavers striker, winner of the Ryman League’s golden boot after hitting 34 of his 40 goals this season in the competition, cast doubt on his Beveree future after Saturday’s 3-2 win over Wealdstone in the Middlesex Senior Cup final.
While Moone loves Hampton enough to return to the club for a second spell last summer, he confessed he still has loftier ambitions, and suggested an approach from a Conference club would be given serious thought.
He said: “I don’t see it as having been easy this season scoring the goals I have, but I’ve loved it, and what happens now is down to other people.
“I have played Conference and Conference South, and you do want to test yourself and play at the highest level you can, but any approach would be judged on a case by case basis.
“I don’t lack ambition at all, so if a Conference club came in and I can play in front of up to 7,000 and test myself at a higher level, I’d have to consider it.
“But as of now that has not happened, so until that call comes I can’t really say.”
