He may be wearing the red shirt of Wales - but Euro 2016 hero Hal Robson-Kanu is west London born and bred.

The 27 year old last night lit up Lille with a spectacular strike, which combined a Cruyff turn with a fantastic finish, to help Wales knock Belgium out and claim an historic semi-final spot for his adopted country.

Robson-Kanu qualifies for Wales through his grandmother, having initially played for England at both U19 and U20 level before making the switch.

But if his was a goal that will have the Valleys echoing with joy for weeks to come, it was also a goal which was made in west London.

Born in Acton on May 21, 1989, Robson-Kanu was brought up in Kensington, where his dad was a vicar, and lived in the leafy Gordon Place, just a stone's throw from Kensington Palace and Billionaire's Row.

To continue the west London links, his brother, David Robson-Kanu, runs a football agency, Protekt Sports Management, out of Chiswick Business Park.

Amazingly, the Welsh wonder is without a club, having been released by Reading upon the expiration of his contract - which ended the day before his memorable goal.

In fact, Robson-Kanu could have been forgiven if he'd used his post-match interview to ask managers to WhatsApp him, in the manner of Adebayo Akinfenwa.

The winger, who started out with Arsenal, scored 24 goals in 198 games for Reading and now has four in 34 for Wales. Perhaps one of the west London clubs will fancy bringing him home this summer?
