Brentford boss Mark Warburton admits Will Grigg is unlikely to be fit for tomorrow’s trip to Peterborough United.

The former Walsall frontman suffered a hamstring injury against Swindon on Boxing Day that ruled him out of the win against MK Dons 72 hours later.

And Warburton insists he won’t rush the Northern Irishman back to the fold, with the next game after the London Road clash not until January 11.

He said: “Will has responded well to treatment but we’re not going to force it. We have an 11-day gap until the Port Vale game. There’s no need to make rash decisions.”

Warburton could name an unchanged team against a struggling Peterborough side who have won just twice in their last 10 games.

Adam Forshaw was withdrawn as a precaution against MK Dons, while Alan McCormack was taken off late on, just a booking away from a ban.

Warburton added: “Consistency in team selection is good, but we’ve got to see what the medical team say. We’ll wrap them in cotton wool.”
