Bedfont Green are close to announcing a groundshare with Hampton & Richmond Borough next season.

Playing at Beveree would allow Green to play in the Ryman League if they win promotion from the Combined Counties Premier.

Loose ends on the deal were being tied up as the Chronicle went to press, so no official announcement has been made.

But the discussions between the club were revealed at Hampton Supporters' Trust's questions-and-answers meeting at Beveree on Monday night.

Green, who eventually want to build their own ground at Bedfont Trading Estate, have been playing at Yeading FC's old ground this season but may have to vacate if Hayes & Yeading move there.

Green finished their season on Saturday with a disappointing 1-0 defeat at lowly Raynes Park Vale.

They finished eighth in the Combined Counties Premier, but could still be overtaken by other teams who have games left.

* It will not be a nervous summer for Bedfont FC after all.

Last season, the club finished rock-bottom of the Combined Counties Premier, but won a reprieve from relegation after other clubs went bust further up the non-league pyramid.

And this season looked to be heading the same way until relegation rivals Cobham failed to win last Tuesday.

Even a 1-0 win for Cobham on Saturday was not enough, as they could not catch Bedfont, who themselves won 1-0, with Russell Miner netting a fourth-minute winner as they over-came Guildford City.
