Brentford FC skipper Matt Heywood was due to have showdown talks with boss Andy Scott last night.
The time period in which Brentford could withdraw the offer of a new contract to Heywood ended yesterday, and nobody has come in for the centre-back yet.
But Scott has been busy bringing in young Spurs defender Leigh Mills on a season-long loan, and has made it clear he is already looking at other centre-backs should Heywood fail to sign.
Heywood, who signed for the Bees from Bristol City two years ago, was voted the Bees' player-of-the-year last season.
