He’s been hinting all season - but it looks as if Tom Cairney will finally get his way.

The Fulham midfielder insisted all along he should play in the middle as you can read here - and his brace against Charlton on Saturday looks to have done the trick.

The £4 million Blackburn signing has been used as a winger for most of the campaign. Ex-boss Kit Symons insisted Cairney was better as a wide man coming inside, but the player was less than convinced.

But the new man at the helm thinks he has seen the shape of things to come.

Boss Slavisa Jokanovic said: “After he scores two goals, people can say that he played very good football."

Here's Cairney and co at their best in our super photo gallery from Saturday's win.

"We have started to use him in the middle more, because at the beginning I try to play with him a little more on the side," the head coach added.

"I believe he can offer us more and help us more from the middle.

"Not only his second goal but his first was a great goal. He has enough quality to do these things.”

As Fulham prepare to take on Leeds at Elland Road tomorrow night, almost certainly missing will be Scott Parker who needs the rest his 35-year-old frame from the demands in midweek games.

Chris Baird, who came on for Jamie O’Hara at half time against the Addicks, is pencilled in for a start in Parker’s defensive midfield slot.
