FULHAM are pondering a move for West Brom defender Liam Ridgewell .

The left-back berth was a problem position for the Whites last campaign, with John Arne Riise, Kieran Richardson and Matthew Briggs sharing the spot.

Ridgewell, who can also play at centre-half, has featured 45 times for the Baggies since his switch from Birmingham City 18 months ago.

The Londoner, 28, is entering the final year of his contract at the Hawthorns, and Fulham are considering a swoop to bring the former Aston Villa youngster to Craven Cottage.

Boss Martin Jol has been promised funds to spend by new owner Shahid Khan , who completed a £150million takeover of the club last week after Mohamed Al Fayed decided to sell up.

The Pakistan-born car tycoon also owns NFL side Jacksonville Jaguars and is worth an estimated £1.65billion.
