FULHAM secured their first-ever win at Anfield thanks to Martin Skrtel's early own goal.

The Slovakian defender put John Arne Riise's cross through his own net after five minutes to give the Whites only their fourth victory on the road all season to end their miserable run on Merseyside.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish rang the changes ahead of their FA Cup final this weekend, but the move backfired badly as they slumped to another defeat on home soil.

After falling behind through Skrtel's gaffe, Andy Carroll and Jonjo Shelvey came close to levelling.

However, the Whites almost stretched their lead after the break when substitute Kerim Frei (pictured) was denied by the woodwork.

Clint Dempsey should've wrapped up victory late on, but he failed to beat Alexander Doni, as Fulham returned south with the points to leapfrog the hosts into eighth spot.

FULHAM: Schwarzer, Kelly, Hangeland, Hughes, Riise, Duff, Murphy, Dembele (Baird 86), Dempsey, Kacaniklic (Frei 58), Pogrebnyak (Etuhu 80).

Subs (not used): Stockdale, Briggs, Kasami, Sa.
