Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli has been ruled out of their season opener at home to Norwich.

The Whites stopper pulled a hamstring against Wolfsburg in their final pre-season friendly.

Although Slavisa Jokanovic had hoped he would be fit, Bettinelli has been ruled out meaning David Button is set to line up on opening day. There was better news as Tom Cairney, Neeskens Kebano and Kevin McDonald are all available.

“Right now, we're going to stay without Marcus Bettinelli. It's a massive problem. He's not available for the start of the season.

“We don't know how long. We'll assess and expect he'll be available to help us soon.”

Set to start: David Button

Fulham are going into the game highly fancied against a Norwich side who are seen as an unknown quantity.

Jokanovic added: “Norwich is a team like us who want to be a Premier League team next season. They are a quality team with important players.

“I remember the last time we met at Craven Cottage where (Cameron) Jerome caused us problems.

“They used a different style such as three at the back. We'll see what we can expect tomorrow.

“There's a new coach and extra motivation for the Norwich players. We have shown in the past that we play good football and want to repeat.”
