FULHAM are set to wrap up the season-long loan signing of Aston Villa striker Darren Bent in the next 24 hours.

Villa chief Paul Lambert confirmed this afternoon that the 29-year-old was undergoing a medical with the Whites.

Bent, a £24million signing from Sunderland in 2011, is out of favour at Villa Park and has been given the green light to leave the club after Fulham agreed a loan fee with their Premier League rivals.

Craven Cottage chief Martin Jol has been desperate to add to his strikeforce following the departure of Mladen Petric, but looks to have landed Bent after fending off competition from Crystal Palace for his signature.
