Fulham are counting the cost of a thrilling FA Cup replay win against Wolves after Sean Kavanagh needed stitches to badly cut knee in the 5-3 penalty shoot out.

The left-sided defender will miss the clash with Reading tomorrow and the next two matches as well. Lasse Vigen Christensen is also out - although Whites manager admits it’s all he can do to resist the temptation to include the midfielder in his squad to face Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

“Lasse was sprinting up and down in training today, and he’s very close,” Kit Symons said. “He will have had a full week’s training by the time Forest comes around, and although there's the temptation to include him, I’m not going to do.”

Close to returning: Lasse Vigen Christensen

Symons was forced to pull Christensen out of the home tie against Wolves after just 32 minutes with a recurrence of a hamstring strain even though the manager declared him fit beforehand.

However, the entire side that battled Wolves and the snow over 120 minutes and pens have reported fit to face the Royals thanks in part to the cryogenic ice chamber at the club’s training ground.

The freezing conditions aid muscle fatigue, and as Symons added: “If you thought it was cold at Wolves, the temperature in the chamber yesterday went up to minus 143 degrees.”
