Fulham confirm Mark Hughes appointment

MARK Hughes is set to be named the new Fulham boss within the next 24 hours.

We revealed yesterday that it was a head-to-head fight between the Welshman and Sven-Goran Eriksson for the vacant managerial hotseat at Craven Cottage .

But sources in SW6 have confirmed that Hughes has pipped the Swede to the post to become Roy Hodgson 's successor after agreeing terms on a one-year rolling contract this morning.

The former Manchester United frontman started his managerial career with Wales before helping Blackburn qualify for the UEFA Cup.

The 46-year-old left Ewood Park for Manchester City, where he only lasted 18 months before being replaced by Roberto Mancini.
