If Slavisa Jokanovic was talking in his native Serbian - the Fulham head coach would say to foreigners in his squad something like 'Učiti Engleski'.

In a word, or rather two in this case, learn English everyone.

Fulham leaned heavily on Europe in the last transfer window but Floyd Ayite, Neeskens Kebano, and Jozabed are all a bit rusty with da native lingo.

And you know that saying, football is a universal language? It curries no favour with Joka.

He said: "It is important to learn English, not only for the professional and private life, but important that people adapt themselves.

"This club offers new players some support in this way to learn the language and support and help them in adapting to the new club, new country, new language, new place.

"It is important not only for Fulham players, but for all the foreign players at different clubs. It is true that football is an international language, but everything is easier if you speak the native language in the place where we are living."

Jokanovic was also thrown in the deep end when he joined Chelsea in 2000.

“It is not easy but I know the people in this kind of business have to be available to improve themselves.

"We are professional and we have to give the people around us something back on the pitch and off the pitch too.

"I am not complaining because I understand it complicates life.

"Fortunately, now I speak three languages and I can live my life in an easier way – they have to understand that when they speak English, it will make everything easier and they will start living a professional and private life with more quality.”
