Fulham head coach Slavisa Jokanovic has laid bare his intention to replace Ross McCormack following the forward's move to Aston Villa.

With £12 million jangling in his pocket, Jokanovic can make the Mac fee talk - and will have a fair few options open to him if he intends to spend the lot.

Whites fans forums have made clear they too would like to see someone capable of hitting the net at this level, and Nahki Wells at Huddersfield and much-travelled Patrick Bamford at Chelsea are two names much mentioned.

Jokanovic earlier admitted he wanted to build a team around the player who has been the subject of transfer speculation since a failed bid by Middlesbrough in January.

That plan bit the dust when Whites and Villa agreed the hefty fee, and even though McCormack and Moussa Dembele take a prospective second 40-goal haul with them, the head coach is looking forward to tackling odds-on Newcastle tomorrow night at Craven Cottage.

He said: "It's the start of the Championship. It will be a good test against a strong team.

"We have to work towards a different target. We need the mentality of getting Fulham back to the Premier League."
