Fulham’s newest recruit reckons the struggling Whites are equal - if not better - than parent club Middlesbrough vying for the title.

James Husband saw out his second game on loan in the 1-1 draw with Charlton, and was left scratching his head trying to work out why Fulham have relegation worries.

Boro are a shoo-in for the Championship play-offs at least, but it's there the difference stops, says the left-back.

“The winning habit is a massive thing. Speaking to the lads, they’ve found it hard to see out games, but the way we’re playing it’s bound to come," Husband said.

“Against Charlton we created chances for fun, and I can’t believe it. There are Premier League players here, and Fulham arguably have some players better than those at Boro.”

The 21-year-old doesn’t regret missing out on the possibility of a Championship medal knowing his Cottage loan will leave him short of the required appearances by the end of the season.

The Husband thinking is playing games is better than sitting on the Riverside sidelines watching someone else in your slot.

The youngster swapped Doncaster Rovers for Boro last summer with high hopes in a deal worth around £500,000, but has found chances in the Championship hard to come by.

So far, he has made just three for his parent club - and will equal that for Fulham if selected against Wigan on Friday night.

The defender said: “I have had to sit behind George Friend at Boro, and I’ve learned an awful lot. But this is a chance to get some games, and I’m enjoying my football and trying to make sure we stay up.

“Sometimes when you’re down there, your luck’s not in, but there’s not an awful lot of difference between here and Boro. They’re a top side and well drilled.

“And maybe Boro would have come out with three points against Charlton, but speaking to the (Fulham) lads they’ve found it hard to see out games. The way we’re playing it’s bound to come."
