SALOMON Kalou has emerged as a January transfer target for big-spending Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in France.

The 26-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to accept Chelsea’s offer of an extension as he remains a peripheral figure at Stamford Bridge .

French newspaper  L’Equipe  claims that ex-Blues midfielder Claude Makelele , now sporting advisor at PSG, was in London on Tuesday night to discuss a deal for the Ivorian.

Makelele spent five years at Chelsea between 2003 and 2008, playing alongside Kalou for his final two seasons in West London.

The former Blues enforcer is believed to have personally recommended the forward to PSG’s recruitment chief Alain Roche, who was also believed to have been in attendance at the Valencia game in midweek.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both expressed an interest in recruiting Kalou but the forward could be tempted by the riches of the Qatari-backed French club.

One potential stumbling block could be Kalou’s involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations which kicks-off at the end of January.
