QPR defender James Perch has admitted that he's playing for his future at the club as he steps up his recovery from injury.

The 32-year-old has been out of action since dislocating his knee in the victory over Hull City in August, and with his current deal due to run out next summer, he says that his motivation is to get as much time as possible to impress those above him.

Speaking to GetWestLondon, Perch said: "When you've got a year left on your contract, first and foremost you're trying to play to earn a contract with QPR, and if they decide you're not for them or that they want you to move on or whatever then you're playing for a contract somewhere else.

"We've got a few players in the last year of our contracts, and we're quite an experienced bunch. I've never been in this situation before so I don't really know what to expect."

Asked if he was targeting an extended stay at Loftus Road, he said: "Yeah definitely. That's why I'm rushing back to get fit.

"I'm doing everything I can in the gym to get back as quick as possible to give me enough time to impress the people above to earn a new contract at QPR. That's what I want to do."
