Former Leeds and Rotherham boss Neil Redfearn heaped praise on Brentford for the way they have performed since Scott Hogan's departure in January.

The striker left for Aston Villa on transfer deadline day and since that day, which saw the Bees crush the Villans by three goals to nil, the west Londoners have been an exciting team to watch.

Many felt Brentford would struggle without their striker but, with the additions of Jota, Sergi Canos and Florian Jozefzoon, Dean Smith's side have shown their ability and there is a growing feeling at Griffin Park that something special is in the making.

And Redfearn was hugely impressed with the way the Bees are so dangerous in and around the penalty area.

Redfearn, speaking on Football League Tonight, said: “I think what you get with Brentford, particularly at home is they're really football bright and front foot.

“If you look at the goals today, you saw that as a perfect example. They were the first to react to everything.

“In and around the box, they're really creative. I think it was more Hogan taking advantage of the players around him and since he's left, they haven't missed him really.”

Brentford face Redfearn's old side Leeds on Tuesday night.
