Former Fulham player Leroy Rosenior labelled Chris Martin's strike action earlier this year as 'disgusting'.

The Derby loanee made himself unavailable for selection on December 30 against Reading as he was keen to link up with Steve McClaren at the iPro Stadium, and didn't return until the Whites faced Barnsley in mid-January.

Fulham face the Rams on Tuesday night and Martin will not be featuring for the Whites as he is ineligible but Rosenior has not been impressed with his conduct.

"I've watched it from afar," he told the Star. "The thought of a player going on strike is totally alien.

"While Chris Martin is on loan to this football club, he is a Fulham player. It's as simple as that.

Situation normal: Chris Martin

"Players and agents think they can control – why did he sign the contract in the first place?

"To go on strike from playing football is a disgusting thing because playing football is an honour."

Martin joined Fulham in August when Nigel Pearson was manager of Derby and has scored 11 goals during his spell in West London and now Rams boss Gary Rowett has said the Scotland striker is part of his future plans.

"How many people say, 'I wanted to be a footballer'," said Rosenior. "It's an amazing thing to do and I think players forget that.

"It was something that I don't agree with, I don't know his reasoning but he's gone down in peoples' estimations because of it and he needs to build that up."

Fulham have a buying clause in their loan deal and it is unclear whether they will activate it.
